A gaming community has to have a local focus, but this also means that continuity is a problem because a local focus also means that the community may not be large enough or sufficiently well-connected to ensure an effective succession once the founder leaves the scene. If you can develop a resource that will help solve that problem, it will be great help to the hobby over the long term.
I was lucky enough to have front row seats to watch the game community grow locally where I live, and I learned a lot about how to create engagement and support local organizers.
As a D&D enthusiast growing up in the area, I know how difficult it was to find a gaming group before, and how easy it is now, over a year into it ... And if it's possible to recreate this elsewhere, I'm willing to die on this hill :)
